Production Update - Meet the SHINY Alterna Deck!!!
almost 3 years ago – Fri, May 14, 2021 at 02:09:34 AM

Hi Anatomicans!

I finally have the Alterna cards in my hands and they are AMAZING. Cartamundi did an incredible job and they are the pinnacle of cold foil printers in this industry. Not only are they smooth as butter, they give off a luxurious shimmer that will catch your eye. I uploaded a couple of videos!

That stunning cold foil is really dreamy, like Chris Hemsworth or Gilbert Gottfried.

A quick look at some of the key players in this deck. Wear your sunglasses!

That's not all the progress to report.

Fresh Impression is working hard to get tuckboxes sent my way for hand-numbering. They were kind enough to send a picture of the printed Alterna tuck next to the embossing plate they will use to mold the shape of the organs and such. I also included a close up of the embossing detail you can expect! Did you know there's cold foil on the tuck, too?!?!

What about the Anatomica deck?

Progress is being made as we speak. Tuck boxes are close behind the Alterna tucks and USPCC has told me they expect to be finished printing in the next week and a half.

As we part ways for now, be sure to check out my good friend, Jack Penny's 2nd amazing campaign, titled Sensu. This project has the most beautiful color palette you are likely to see this year. Please see below and let me know if you have any questions about the update!

Cheers!

*********************************************************

Sensu is a deck of luxury, hand-drawn art playing cards. Sensu, meaning ‘Japanese folding fan’, is inspired by Japanese folklore and whimsical animals and takes an incredibly unique approach to mirror the effect of opening a folding fan in the hand and revealing the art canvas across the cards. The cards are also environmentally sustainable, and the project is in support of animal welfare, such as rescuing abandoned and displaced cats and dogs around Japan.

Funded in five hours, with continuous artistic and animal welfare stretch goals being added, you need to explore this campaign. Most of the art pieces are in limited rewards so try to be quick, and know that once you are in, you are in for an experience.

Teeny Tiny Update
almost 3 years ago – Wed, Apr 28, 2021 at 11:37:58 PM

Hi Everyone!

I am working on a nice, juicy Porterhouse-sized update in the next week or so to share some progress. I just wanted check in to see how things are going.

  • How is life?
  • What other projects have you backed since Anatomica?
  • What is your favorite bacon dish?

While you patiently wait for an update, here are some fun anatomy/life facts:

  • Every second, your body produces 25 million new cells. Tell me again why we don't automatically qualify for the commuter lane when driving alone?
  • If you walked for 12 hours a day, it would take just under two years to walk around the earth. I'm pretty sure Forrest Gump did this.
  • We spend an average of one year sitting on the toilet. That number expands to 17 years if you like to eat Taco Bell.
  • A sneeze exits your body at 100 mph (160 kph). That's roughly the equivalent speed of a child checking to see if Santa brought any presents on Christmas morning.

See you all soon!

Reggie, the World Traveler!

Hi Folks,

Not much to update as all the pieces are still in production. We slowly march on!

Our beloved artist, Amal, recently took a vacation to Dubai, UAE. She printed out our favorite Aces and took Reggie and his friends on an international adventure. I present to you:

Reggie, the World Traveler!

Ace of Clubs, Ace of Diamonds, Ace of Hearts, and Ace of Spades

That's all for now and I will see you soon!

Production Update - Pictures!
about 3 years ago – Tue, Apr 06, 2021 at 06:24:31 PM

Greetings Anatomicans!

As we flip through year-old Popular Mechanics and Time magazines in the waiting room, I have a couple of quick production updates to help ease the pain a bit.

Alterna - Cards are Printed! Cartamundi has confirmed that printing is complete for the limited edition Alterna deck. They may make some tweaks to the finish as part of their quality control process, but I am so excited to know they are in physical form now. The warehouse snapped a couple of quick images:

Don't you just love cold foil?!

Carat Case Displays - Shipping to Brothership! Sherman with Carat Case Creations let me know that lids were done for the two-deck carat cases and they have been placed on a ship heading for the US. I hope those cases took Dramamine because they will be on the ocean for a few weeks! Here is a picture he provided:

That's all for now. I will keep you updated as the other pieces progress. In the meantime, there are a couple of projects I would love to recommend. These are great figures in the community and they are doing a fantastic job with their projects!

- - - - - VISIONS - - - - -

With nearly 450 backers and over 200% funded, this project is a huge success. Not only are the cards fantastic, there is a lot of thought put into the concept and theme of the project. You can also find some great diversity in the court cards and some awesome extras.

With over 700 backers and over 300% funded, this project is a real stunner. The dual court illustrations are the stars of the show and I can't wait to see what this group does next. Such a fantastic rookie project!

Production Update - Instagram Prototype GIVEAWAY
about 3 years ago – Fri, Mar 26, 2021 at 02:52:05 AM

Howdy All!

I wanted to give you a production update and let you know about a giveaway on Instagram. First, let's get to the good stuff:

Cartamundi is printing Alterna cards as we speak. The artwork review went smoothly and cards are on the fast-track in Belgium.

Final artwork has been approved with USPCC and I have officially entered the queue for printing, so I expect to see those printed in about six weeks.

Production is under way for the carat case displays, which should be completed in about a month, then they make their journey to Brothership.

Tucks are nearing production as well. We are finalizing artwork and those should be rolling out very soon.

As these pieces move closer together, I can't help but feel excited and anxious to start seeing results. In the meantime, I am hosting a giveaway on Instagram. Head over to the Curio (@curioplayingcards) profile to learn how you can have a chance to win a pair of prototypes! Backers will get one extra entry, so please remember to complete the steps and send me a private message with your backer number. Good luck!
